1. EXAMINATION AND IMAGING
Before the extraction, our team will conduct a thorough examination, including 3D imaging to assess the tooth’s condition, position, and any potential complications.
2. REDUCE DISCOMFORT
To ensure a painless experience, Dr. Rivas will administer local anesthesia to numb the tooth and surrounding tissues. Please ask our team about sedation options if you have concerns or anxiety.
3. EXTRACTION TECHNIQUES
Depending on the tooth’s condition and position, your dentist may use one of two extraction techniques:
a. Simple Extraction: In this method, the dentist loosens the tooth using an instrument called an elevator and then removes it using forceps.
b. Surgical Extraction: Surgical extractions are more complex and involve making a small incision in the gum to access the tooth. This technique is often necessary for impacted or broken teeth.
4. POST-EXTRACTION CARE
After the tooth extraction, your dentist will provide specific instructions to promote healing. These may include biting on gauze pads, applying ice packs, and taking prescribed pain medications or antibiotics.
